Oma Loves You

This past week I dropped by Oma's Gruene (just a few doors down from Gruene Hall) and met Paul and Tracy.  We immediately became friends and they are running a really great venue.....which is why I chose it to be the place for the first CD Release Party for the new album.  They have a great biergarten (or beer garden) in the back - but I was shocked when I saw their Underground listening room.  It only seats 30 - 40 people so I doubt I will even use a PA - a true acoustic concert.

The details are all listed above - give Tracy a call ASAP to reserve tickets.

The night will begin around 7 PM with dinner (nothing too fancy) and everyone will receive a copy of the new album "Tavern Of Poets" that Drew Kennedy and I are producing together beginning this week.  The new album is more of a singer/songwriter album than my past albums and after last years New American Voices Tour I decided I wanted to promote this CD by playing a lot more listening rooms and intimate shows.  Oma's is the perfect place to start.  I hope some of you can make it......and if not keep checking the tourdates and catch a show when I pass through your area.

CD and Vinyl Pre-Order information will be announced soon.  Sign up for the mailing list to be the first to know.....and receive a free 6 song sampler for doing so.

See you all soon.

First Blog

Well, I decided to start a blog.  Sometimes it might be daily, sometimes weekly and knowing myself it might be a few times a month.....but I'm going to try to start keeping a running road diary.  The New American Voices Tour website that was designed by the guys over at The9513.com (who also sponsor the tour)  received so much positive feedback I decided to try and do something similar on my own site.  Basically I'm going to try to keep everyone involved on what's going on and give you a reason to visit the site on more of a regular basis.

I turned 30 last Friday, and opened for Willie Nelson on Saturday in Mission, TX at the Las Palmas Racetrack.....not a bad way to spend a birthday weekend!  Here's a few pictures from the show that Shenna took.  Matt Slusher reminded me that he has a picture from 2000 or 2001 when we played Willie's Picnic of me singing Will The Circle Be Unbroken with Willie, Pat Green and Cory Morrow.  As soon as I get a copy I'll post it on the site.

Thanks again to the Ramirez family for having us on the lineup.  Before we left town we ate lunch at El Pastor in Mcallen and I highly recommend it if you're ever in the area.  Try the Tacos De Cabrito, they were excellent!

The next few weeks will be pretty light as far as shows go.....I'm hunkering down and putting the finishing touches on the songs for the new album.  But keep checking the tourdates because it's going to start getting pretty hectic.  April 30 will be the first CD Release Party at Oma's Gruene.  Tickets will be available soon.  Be sure and sign up for the mailing list to be the first to know all of the details because there will only be 30 tickets sold!  I'll be hitting nearly every part of Texas in May (25 shows), heading west with Drew Kennedy in June (New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah and Arizona), Europe for the entire month of July and will most likely be taking the month of August off before an east coast tour in September and October.  If there's a venue you'd recommend feel free to email me directly off the website and let me know.

I can't wait for everyone to hear the new album and hit the road and start playing some new songs!  Drew Kennedy and I will be producing the album together at Ramble Creek Studio's in Austin, TX and the title of my fifth album will be.............Tavern Of Poets.
